“In the 24 years of the working of this Opal Field, only five deaths have occurred and only one fatal accident when a prospector plunged to the bottom of a 45′ shaft owing to an attempted descent on an unspliced rope, he was terribly smashed up and after first aid treatment here, was conveyed to Pt Augusta Hosp. 200 miles by motor & 200 by Rail but succumbed to his injuries.”
