A.W. White in 1937 before he went to the UK in the Australian contingent for the Coronation of George V.

A.W. White was the Postal Inspector in 1920.  He played a role in the naming of Coober Pedy and establishing the postal service.

A copy of this photo was donated to the Historical Society by White’s grandson Owen A. Mumford who wrote:

In 1917 my grandfather was awarded both the Distinguished Conduct Medal (DCM) and Military Medal (MM), both for bravery on the battlefield in France & Belgium. Only 2 years before becoming a Postal Inspector.
